The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was charged with worship, colour and celebration as the 2025 edition of Praise Carnival held at the UNN Stadium from 20th to 21st March.
The event, organised by Light City Evangelical Centre International in collaboration with the Joint Christian Campus Body (JCCB), UNN Chapter, marked the official opening of the university’s religious event calendar for the year.
According to the convener, Evangelist Iyke Asogwa, this is the first edition of its kind. “I’m starting from home – UNN,” he declared. “Welcome to my party; here, we party in the Holy Ghost.”
The two-day carnival drew massive crowds of students and worshippers who filled the stadium and its surroundings to capacity.
With leading gospel artistes such as Mercy Chinwo, GUC, Moses Bliss and Mr. M & Revelation in attendance, the atmosphere was electrifying. Each ministration carried waves of intense worship, stirring emotions and spiritual revival across the gathering.
“This was beyond music: it was a revival. This is soul-winning,” said Emeka Onah, a third-year student of Biochemistry. “There was something about the unity, the sound, and the Spirit. You could feel it.”
The event also welcomed dignitaries, spiritual leaders, campus executives and music ministers who joined in what many described as a divine visitation. Messages of hope, transformation, thanksgiving and alignment with purpose were shared, all centred on the year’s theme, ‘Praise Carnival.’
As dawn broke on Saturday, 22nd March, voices remained hoarse from singing, but hearts were lightened. Many students described the experience as an encounter, not merely an event.
Following the UNN edition, students of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) are set to experience their own ‘Praise Carnival’ this week, continuing what now appears to be a wave of revival.
With the successful hosting of ‘Praise Carnival,’ UNN’s 2025 spiritual season has officially begun ushering in a year that promises to be one of glory, growth, and God alone.
